good text. I think people are most specialised to one think, so i guess good scientists are good at what they do but at no other.

Global Warming and Climate Change is the biggest environmental issue that we face these days. the long term effects of these environmental changes to a nations economy is quite damaging. there would be a shortage in food supply as well as on water supply too.

Oh my god that's incredibly depressing. That guy said, "... as far as the eye could see... " Unfortunately, or maybe I'm just being pessimistic here, it isn't enough of a problem that grabs the attention of everyone. So until it does, probably little will be done about it in a meaningful way.

It seems that real problems like this only get the attention of grass-roots types of organizations. Then, if it grows enough some pol sees it as an opportunity for self-promotion and sheds light on it.

I remember a long time ago seeing a picture of a fish that had the old-time plastic 6 pack plastic holders around it. The fish had actually grown so much it was partially penetrating the skin. So disgusting, and there are people who think it's only a fish. But it's something living and hadn't done a damn thing to deserve that.

Hi there... I don't crochet, but it is always good to see something done to help our friends in the ocean. I must admit that I used to maintain saltwater aquariums. But honestly I felt so guilty taking those beautiful creatures from their rightful homes. So I stopped keeping them. That was years ago, and now I'm content to just look at pictures of them. Cheers! Dave

Please don't take this the wrong way. I think your overall ideas are fine but you might want to put a little more thought into your next posts. I say this becuase it seems like your writing style has gone downhill a bit as opposed to your previous posts. - C.

It really takes a global change perpetuated on an individual level. Even if the planet were on the edge of dying, and many people seem to think that way, most people still are selfish and don't desire to see beyond themselves and their own lives. All we can do is act as good stewards ourselves and hope for the best.

What about the plastic from the rivers. I'm sure that there are more plastics in rivers worldwide than in the all oceans.

That's a disgrace when you think about it.

If we can't be responsible for disposing with our plastics (which clearly we can not) in a responsible manner we must enforce the use of biodegradable products.
