These brownies replace a large amount of the fat from butter or shortening with whipped prunes.

They still seem sinfully rich, and no one needs to know how you can eat so many brownies and still keep that slim figure!

The 1/4 cup of prunes used in ths recipe account for 90 calories as opposed to the 406 in the same amount of butter!

Put aside any predjudice you may have against the humble prune, and give this recipe a whirl!

8 oz. semi sweet chocolate, melted
1/4 cup prune puree(recipe follows)
1/4 cup butter
1 tsp. vanilla sugar
2 eggs,
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
pinch salt
Pre-heat the oven to 350. Sift the dry ingredients to gether in a mixing bowl. Lightly beat the eggs, and then stir in the prune whip, butter, vanilla, and chocolate. Fold into the flour mixture and pour into a lightly greased 8 x8 baking pan. Bake 30 min. and let cool in the pan, Cut and serve.

Substitute that butter in the recipe with olive oil and you've got a much healthier brownie that you may find is even more delicious!  I've not yet tried the whipped prune substitute, but I no longer make brownies with butter at all.

Great idea for a recipe - it's always nice to have something that's lovely and not as naughty as it first seems!

Wow, this recipe looks marvelous, I will definitely try this and report back if it was success or not.
