I think the prunes actually make it richer, a great little recipe. I still use butter, will not swap that for olive oil!

Great idea for a recipe - it's always nice to have something that's lovely and not as naughty as it first seems!
Let me start by saying nice post

These brownies replace a large amount of the fat from butter or shortening with whipped prunes.

They still seem sinfully rich, and no one needs to know how you can eat so many brownies and still keep that slim figure!

The 1/4 cup of prunes used in ths recipe account for 90 calories as opposed to the 406 in the same amount of butter!

Put aside any predjudice you may have against the humble prune, and give this recipe a whirl!

8 oz. semi sweet chocolate, melted
1/4 cup prune puree(recipe follows)
1/4 cup butter
1 tsp. vanilla sugar
2 eggs,
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
pinch salt
Pre-heat the oven to 350. Sift the dry ingredients to gether in a mixing bowl. Lightly beat the eggs, and then stir in the prune whip, butter, vanilla, and chocolate. Fold into the flour mixture and pour into a lightly greased 8 x8 baking pan. Bake 30 min. and let cool in the pan, Cut and serve.

like this recipes, will try one day..

Question for Max....

You mentioned changing butter to olive oil for a healthier brownie...Is it the same amount of oil or go with how much??   Thanks in advance.  Recipe is definately a try....with the essential olive oil maybe instead of 90 calories it would be a healthy 80....don't know.
