I almost forgot...


As for the slippage - You must:
  • Thoroughly clean your apples
  • Thoroughly dry your apples
  • Place them on wax paper and pop them in the fridge for the caramel to set up a bit

It really helped. The carmel didn't completely freeze, so it was a thick mix. Then we tried refridgerating the apples.

never heard of carmel apples but especially on bonfire night when we burn an effigy of Guy Fawkes we make toffee apples. they are just sweet apples with a stick rammed into them to act as a handle then they have several dips in hot bonfire toffee. messy but lovely.

Honeybunch is right if you buy apples from grocery store. If you buy from some farmer markets they do not have coating.

I'm making caramel apple also and I just put it in the fridge before dipping... also make sure that the apple is free form moisture...

caramel apples are so good..I love making this and it is one of my favorite snack....I also encountered the same problem sometimes...thank God that I got a lot of tips from here...

for yourself make sure you get an apple pie apple they are the yummiest things on the planet! They have carmel, white chocolate and cinnamon sugar I believe. We eat them in the park and take at least 2 home with us every trip!
