Anything high in fiber. Veggies are the best. Protein is also good. I find that snacking on almonds helps with the hunger issues. Although it is very hard to do, stay away from the carbs they are the enemy!

Some good suggestions here, I'll add my bit, eating regularly like six small meals a day, of protein and vegetables and fruit as well as minimal exercise, Teaches the body that it doesn't need to store fat, that it doesn't have to, because it is getting a constant supply of energy intake.
Implementing most of what has been suggested by others here will undoubtedly assist in reducing stomach size, and of course produce weightloss. Above all use common sense.

There were some very excellent suggestions in these lists, for example apples and eggs, however the question of strictly diet is an oversimplification of the flat stomach problem by virtue of the fact that it is exercise combined with diet that makes the tummy shrink.

I think one thread referred to consuming less than you are burning. Caloric logging combined with using devices like heart rate monitors that measure calories burned can help shed light upon the equation.

what you eat as far as types of food goes has nothing to do with size and condition of your abs. it's not like the fat from bacon only gets stored in your rear and the fat from the greasy cheeseburger goes only to your abs.

eat sensibly and exercise. the only limitation after those 2 is genetics and you can't do anything about that.

I say everything in moderation!

Cut out potatoes, bread, pasta, etc. No starchy food.

Foods that are high in protein and fiber are the best kinds of food to eat if you want to burn fat around your middle.

Also, it takes more energy to digest protein than it does to digest fat. So the more protein you eat, the more calories your body burns.    Shocked

Hopefully you'll find this helpful I got it from Fitness Magazine each one has a short description for flat abs as well

...

Nice list! I for one love to eat fish and control the quantity I eat during meals. I do take a few snacks ( I try to always make it fruits) here and there.

good eating habbits + an average of 10-20 min of jogging everyday keeps me thin Smiley

Rules to flat stomach:-

1. Cut off rice, pasta, noodles, bread.

2. Eat lots of meat, fruits and vegetables.

3. Remove sugar from your diet. If you must, use artificial sweeteners.

I have lost 5 lbs in 1 week using this method. You can read more about it here fastfatburning.org

I guess we might as well add in exercise because lets face it, you can eat as good as you want, but you have to be at least a little active in most cases.
