Yes if it is a soup I usually use potatoes as well and it works. If it is a meat dish, I used a paper towel to remove or add some lemon juice.

A potato cut into quarters works well. Let it cook in the dish, then discard the potato before serving the meal. The potato will absorb some of the salt.

I am for potatoes too. It saved my diner many times! Especially in soup, it is great trick. In other meals, The cream or water help too.  Cheesy

If dish became more salty, try adding some water if its liquid dish, where else if its solid dish try adding more ingredients to it. This way we can equal the salt we added.

Boil it in hot water for a few minutes. The salt will dissolve in the water then you can flush it out. It's what I do for the too salty bitter gourd or bitter melon.

Put in a potato, this is the solution I know for too much salt. However, Maybe you can put less than a whole potato, I don't know, how much of it will be enought.

In my case, I add more water to it esp. if its a soup or anything that has water.
